Lead is theprimary cleanup driver, with flaking lead-based paint from Cabin 2 contaminating about five cubicyards of soil above DEC Human Health cleanup levels. Chenega Corporation recently acquired theproperty and plans to remediate and renovate it for future use as a cultural camp and educationcenter.DEC is evaluating options to remediate the lead-contaminated soil so that it can be managed without further risk or restriction on future site activities due to the presence of contaminated material.
