USDA-s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has a construction requirement to renovate a room in building 6418 at Moore Air Base in Edinburg, Texas.
Background:
Building 6418 at Moore Air Base is a Mexican Fruit Fly Rearing Facility. The Mexican Fruit Fly Program is charged with the eradication of Mexican Fruit Flies from the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas and the northern municipalities of Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Building 6418-s Colony Egg Bubbling Room is where fly eggs are cleaned and incubated. The equipment and furniture in the room is corroded beyond repair, along with the floors, which are dilapidated due to high traffic, corrosive chemical washout, and foundation settling.
