The bus overheated and was taken to the local heavy equipment mechanic for inspection in Riverton, Wyoming which is 5.3 miles away from the school. The engine pistons, rings, and head need replacement in order to be operational. Due to the specialized nature of this requirement, it is not in the best interest of the government to seek competitive quotes. Driving the bus to multiple locations may cause further engine damage thus, added repair costs. Multiple quotes will create added costs caused by repeat inspections and towing fees. The government does not anticipate a significant cost saving through competition, only processing delays and added costs. The select vendor is the only heavy equipment mechanic in the local community who is capable of repairing buses. Any contractor information provided in response to this notice is strictly voluntary and shall be at no cost to the government. Technical questions will not be made available for this requirement being this is not a request for quote nor proposal and the government is not accepting quotes nor proposals in response to this notice.
