IntroductionThis is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued, and quotations will not be requested. PurposeThe National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate a firm-fixed priced purchase order on a sole source basis with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Inc., located at 7102 Riverwood Drive Columbia, Maryland 21046. The purchase order will specifically procure maintenance and repair support services for a Shimadzu ICPMS-2030 and associated AS-10 autosampler and cooling water cooler for a one year base period with options for two additional service years.

Much of the instrumentation in FRD requires fast, high through-put analysis of various samples collected in a wide-range of fire experiments. To ensure limited disruptions to the analysis of metals on particulate matter, via FRD-s Inductively Clouded Plasma Mass Spectrometry System (ICP-MS), an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) capable of continuing the operation of analysis during a power outage event is needed.
