- The San Mateo County Sheriffs Office Forensic Laboratory seeks accredited forensic service providers to support the testing of untested sexual assault kits (SAKs). The goal is to eliminate the backlog of unsubmitted or untested kits, support investigations, and improve outcomes for survivors through accurate DNA analysis and entry of eligible profiles into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). There are an estimated 450 SAKs to be tested, dating from the early 1980s to now.An audit of all sexual assault kits in custody of law enforcement agencies throughout our jurisdiction is currently in progress. As such, we wish to stagger the submission of kits over the duration of this project. This project has a desired completion date of March 31, 2028.
