This is not a solicitation. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to negotiate a requirement with Steris company and their AUTHORIZED distributors. The applicable NAICS code is 339113 and PSC is 6515. The authority for this action is FAR 13.106-1(b)(2): Only one Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting OfficerSTATEMENT OF WORKItem description: Steris upgrade to existing laboratory glassware washer.This contract is to facilitate the acquisition of a new laboratory glassware washer from an existing vendor (Steris Corporation), which will upgrade capital equipment currently on site and in use at the White River Junction VA Healthcare System, the Steris Reliance 400 (EE# 22952). Laboratories within our Research Service are currently evaluating cellular responses in biofluids and evaluating immunological and other biological proteins in pre-clinical and clinical research samples. Upgrading our existing laboratory glassware washer will fully utilize existing scientific equipment to conduct these VA-ORD funded studies. Maintaining efficient up-to-date equipment will save time, improve productivity, reduce long-term repair costs, and reduce unnecessary government spending. Maintaining effective and thorough cleaning of laboratory glassware, plastic, and metal goods will also ensure and support reproducible research and appropriate translation of research findings. Adhering to these guidelines is recommended and often mandated by federal funding agencies.
