- As required under state and federal law, including but not limited to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Boston Public Schools provides contracted transportation to students who cannot be transported through district-provided yellow bus transportation. As such, transportation needs to be supplied in 7D-registered pupil vehicles driven by licensed 7D drivers to eligible students experiencing homelessness, eligible through an Individual Education Plan, and in the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) care. The number of contracted rides with registered school transportation suppliers ranges from 600 to 1,000 per school year.
