Sources Sought for Surplus Rock, and Gravel Available for Industry Use
This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE only. This is not a Request for Proposal/Bid/Quotation and neither specifications, nor drawings are available at this time. This request does not obligate the Government in any contract award. The Government will not pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of such information. Do not submit cost proposals or cost information. Response to this notice is strictly voluntary and will not affect any firm-s ability to submit a proposal if and when a solicitation is issued.
Particularly, the purpose of this NOTICE is to survey the market and gain knowledge of potential businesses interested in obtaining large quantities of dredged rock & gravel for use as construction materials and/or recycling in other construction applications. The dredged materials will be generated during approach wall construction at Kentucky Lock & Dam, Grand Rivers, Kentucky. The Government estimates the materials will be generated over the course of a five-year period.
The earliest award would be anticipated in FY2027
SCOPE OF THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Nashville and Pittsburgh District has been working on the Kentucky Locks addition project. The next phase of the design includes construction of the upstream and downstream approach walls. The dredging of materials is required to build these structures. Preliminary designs estimate that the construction will generate roughly 200,000 cubic yards of dredge overburden material, and 30,000 cubic yards of excavated stone material. The Government is surveying the market to determine the level of interest of the local construction industry in obtaining this material for its use.
