The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to negotiate a one-time, sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to the TECAN U.S., Inc., (CAGE Code 1GUA3), 9401 Globe Center Drive, Suite 140, Morrisville, North Carolina, 27560. The Government intends to negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 811210: Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance; and the Product Service Code is 6640: Laboratory Equipment and Supplies.
The Laboratory Division (LD), Biometrics Analysis Section (BAS), Federal DNA Database Unit (FDDU) utilize Tecan Robotic Workstations throughout the DNA analytical process. This equipment is manufactured by TECAN, and they are the only vendor that can perform preventative maintenance, repair, and upgrade services on the TECAN Robotic Workstation. Validation was performed and the TECAN automated workstation provded best suited for the DNA automated processes used by the FBI. This comprehensive evaluation resulted in the recommendation to use TECAN Robotic Workstations for DNA analysis. These workstations have been identified as a critical need, therefore requiring subsequent upgrades when needed.
The FBI intends to award a contract to receive necessary parts to upgrade their robotic workstations. The required items are TECAN Part Number 30013668 (Microplate Carrier, 4-Position, Landscape), TECAN Part Number 10613020 (Trough Carrier, 100mL, 3-Position), TECAN Part Number 30043753 (Container, System Liquid, 30L, Fluent, Spare), TECAN Part Number 30042187 (Cart, 30L System or Waste Liquid Container, Fluent).
