Tender are invited for PUBLIC NOTICEThe City & Borough of Sitka has applied for a Historic Preservation Fund - Certified Local Government grant to improve the Japonski Island Boathouse (JIB). The grant seeks to ultimately renovate the Boathouse, allowing public use as a working Maritime Heritage Center and strengthen the local historic preservation program.This project will be conducted at the Japonski Island Boathouse located in Sitka, Alaska.Proposed actions include the following elements: Install aluminum handrails for existing exterior decks, ramps, and steps to meet City building codes and facilitate accessibility. Construct catwalk that spans the width of the northern wall of marine ways wall, the stairs down into the marine ways, and create a door and doorway from the catwalk into the exhibit room. Rehang and trim 2 doors and install push/panic exit bars. Add shiplap boards to the exterior, prime and paint where needed. Deliver and spread gravel around JIB to create a safe, level and even surface. Add insulation under the building to meet fire codes and increase energy efficiency. Comments concer...
