The purpose of this CLG grant project is to continue a public process for revising and completing an existing 2018 draft Municipality of Anchorage Historic Preservation Plan (Anchorage HPP). This project will be conducted within Anchorage, Alaska.Proposed goals include the following: Increasing public education and engagement will result in updated community direction for the historic preservation goals, objectives, and strategies of the Anchorage HPP. The HPP will become a guide when renovating and maintaining older, affordable housing, and may help alleviate Anchorage-s housing challenges. Carrying forward Anchorage-s cultural heritage preservation and diversity of traditions. This project will address heritage tourism as a historic preservation and economic development priority, through planning, education, and direction-setting.
