Description : ADVERTISEMENT FOR EXECUTIVE ARCHITECTUCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an Executive Architect for the proposed Doris Stein Eye Research Center Seismic and Program Improvement Study (Project # 907108). The Doris Stein Eye Research Center building is located at 200 Stein Plaza on the UCLA Westwood Campus. The building is approximately 94,214 gross square feet (GSF) split between an approximately 80,280 GSF, four-story (levels B-3) main building and an approximately 13,934 GSF, two-story (levels B-1) lecture hall annex. The building was designed by Welton Becket Associates in 1988 and was completed in 1990. The main building is roughly square in plan, and the annex is attached via a below-grade hallway.A preliminary ASCE 41-17, Tier 1 structural evaluation has been completed and shows that the Doris Stein Eye Research Center building is not compliant with the UC Seismic Policy Seismic Performance Rating (SPR) criteria and requires seismic remediation. This project will focus on the seismic improvement of the building and code-triggered work. Additional linear and nonlinear ASCE 41-17, Tier 3 analyses will be required as part of the pre-design phase of this project.
